Press Release
01/27/10 – “I applaud President Obama for his focus tonight on putting Americans back to work and growing our economy out of this severe recession. I agree strongly with the President that our top priority for 2010 must be helping our small businesses create jobs. In San Francisco, as in the rest of the country, our small and medium-sized businesses are the true engines of job creation and government must create conditions for small businesses to grow.
By emphasizing tax credits for businesses who hire new workers, a new federal jobs bill, and investments in clean energy and our critical infrastructure, the President is building a new economic foundation that will create millions of new jobs and bring prosperity to all Americans.
Here in San Francisco, our priorities reflect the President’s vision for rebuilding and restoring our economy. We have proposed new local tax incentives that will help our small and mid-sized businesses create new jobs and provide health insurance to their workers. We have extended health security to every San Franciscan. And we are investing billions of dollars in rebuilding our infrastructure, growing our green economy and putting thousands of people back to work.
I share the President’s confidence that an economic recovery is underway, but we must redouble our efforts and work together to spur private sector job creation and restore economic security for every family.”
