Mayor Newsom’s Statement on President Obama’s Budget and Its Extension of JobsNow Funds and New Job Tax Incentives for Small Business

02/01/10 – “I applaud President Obama for including an extension of the program that funds San Francisco’s JobsNow initiative and for including new job tax incentives for small businesses as part of his proposed budget. JobsNow has put more than 1,600 San Franciscans back to work and is a stimulus-funded program that is working. If cities and counties across the country start similar programs, they will immediately spur job growth in their own communities.

By emphasizing tax credits for businesses who hire new workers, President Obama is investing in the same policies that San Francisco is advancing at the local level.

In San Francisco, as in the rest of the country, our small and medium-sized businesses are the true engines of job creation and government must do whatever it takes to help them grow.”
