Mayor Lee Welcomes Residents & Families to San Francisco Season of Giving City Hall Open House

San Francisco to Open City Hall Doors to Public on Sunday, December 18th with Holiday Snow Park & Other Family Activities in Civic Center Plaza

12/12/11—Mayor Edwin M. Lee and First Lady Anita Lee today announced that City Hall will open its doors and offices to the public for the San Francisco Season of Giving City Hall Open House on Sunday, December 18th from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Civic Center Plaza will host family activities, including a children’s snow park, the entire weekend.

“The holidays are a time for family and friends to gather in celebration of all we have to be thankful for and the new year ahead, but it is also a time to reflect on how our City can help those in need this holiday season,” said Mayor Lee. “On Sunday, Anita and I want to invite all families from across the City to join us for the San Francisco Season of Giving City Hall Open House.”

The San Francisco Season of Giving City Hall Open House is free and open to the public, and will provide guests with an opportunity to support the San Francisco Food Bank’s Holiday Food Drive by bringing nonperishable food items that will be collected by the San Francisco Food Bank. Guests can meet and take pictures with the Mayor, tour City Hall and connect with many of the City’s elected officials and departments’ staff. Many Supervisors and other elected officials will also open their offices to the public. Guests will be treated to entertainment sponsored by the San Francisco Arts Commission and light refreshments.

The public is also encouraged to give to the San Francisco Season of Giving campaign, which Mayor Lee launched last month and will last until the January 8, 2012 Mayoral Inauguration. Residents and businesses are encouraged to give back to their own communities by supporting organizations that are providing warm meals, a place to stay and other essential services to the people of San Francisco. Those that have given what they can will be provided an opportunity to take a photograph with Mayor Lee in front of the Tree of Hope at City Hall.

The snow park is open from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. in Civic Center’s Joseph L. Alioto Performing Arts Piazza on both Saturday and Sunday, December 17th and 18th.
